The Vauxhall Trophy

At MASUAS we share our base with Liverpool University Air Squadron (LUAS). Over the many years we have been stationed together, a friendly but determined rivalry has evolved between the two squadrons. This rivalry peaks every year when we compete for ownership of the vauxhall trophy. 6 sports are played - always football and rugby, then each squadron picks 2 sports. Last year these were: volleyball, bowling, table-tennis and badminton. A year ago we lost the Vauxhall to LUAS for the first time in 17 years, but regained it in the most recent competition. Phew!

Other Sports

As well as this type of competition, we also enter various other sporting events, such as the inter-UAS boat race in Cambridge. We are not restricted to this - general RAF competitions in many sports are also open to us. As a member of the squadron, it is possible to get into any sport imaginable: all tastes are catered for.
